You may already know that CheckMarket is a company that’s still expanding from earlier editions of our newsletter. First we moved premises, then we expanded when our support team as well as our design team grew in number. Establishing the paper team was a new and important step, but it’s not over yet.
This past year we have welcomed another four new colleagues into the fold who will provide the same quality or an even better service, each within their own discipline.
Erwin Dockx
Database administrator
Who?
As Database Administrator Erwin is the man who manages all of CheckMarket’s data. He makes sure that the surveys, answers and any other possible information is safely stored on our servers in a logical structure so that it can be quickly accessed and that everything runs smoothly.
Career:
When he was a young rascal Erwin always thought he would become a vet, until he realised all the areas he’d have to put his hands. From then on he decided to keep his hands firmly on his computer keyboard.
Fun:
As manager of the huge ‘CheckMarket memory’ he sometimes pretends to be a bit of a bird brain or a mad professor …
Tom Smolders
Software architect
Who?
Behind the scenes Tom ensures the expansion of the survey tool and applications such as API and Scribe and keeps it all up-to-date. The baby of the CheckMarket team processes huge amounts of programming code everyday, so that his colleagues can quickly and efficiently follow up customer’s needs.
Career:
With Tom it all started to ‘go wrong’ at an early age: when he was fourteen he had already finished his first website. It was reportedly an ingenious calculator at school that inspired him to plunge into some of the most complex languages of programming.
Fun:
What is Tom’s best attribute? I can stay awake for a long time. And his weakest? I can sleep for a long time. In-house research has revealed that these must be specific characteristics of truly talented programmers.
Gert Van Dessel
Market researcher
Who?
With his analytical insight Gert has no trouble at all getting the right figures in the right place at the right time. He translates survey results from the most complex research into clear and concise reports with ease. Gert helps you out when you aren’t sure how to best interpret the results of your research.
Career:
After completing his studies as a Commercial Engineer our internal analyst gained valuable experience in market research within different sectors, including at Zespri and British American Tobacco. Gert has always been extremely curious about everything, so becoming a market research freak was the perfect choice of career.
Fun:
As inquisitive as he is, Gert’s head is full of the most trivial facts, things which the average person doesn’t remember but which costs you valuable points during a game of Trivial Pursuit. The creators of the game approached our quiz maniac to ask him to put some questions together. In the meantime he has submitted around 1500 questions for various editions of the board game.
Marc Engelbos
Market researcher
Who?
Marc devotes himself entirely to CheckMarket’s marketing and sales activities. Every progressive online company must be present in today’s ever changing world. So Marc is constantly looking for new opportunities to apply CheckMarket’s online tool, in short, to look at ways in which we can make your work easier. New ideas also mean new tool applications, resulting in more satisfied users.
Career:
As a marketing animal in different (inter)national companies such as De Post and Q8 Marc was a very satisfied user of the CheckMarket online survey tool in the past. He was so impressed with the possibilities and related support that he wanted to work on it himself. CheckMarket’s vision of ‘measuring for knowledge’ is perfectly in tune with Marc’s line of thought.
Fun:
This identical twin always turns up at the office in a good mood, even after a disappointing quiz or a tough running competition.
